Un examen puede indicar la presencia de meningitis. Se pueden presentar déficits neurológicos focales (pérdida localizada de las funciones nerviosas) y las pruebas neurológicas podrÃan mostrar disminución de la función nerviosa craneal, incluyendo los nervios que controlan el movimiento ocular.
