Mielopatía sifilítica - Symptom

Nombres alternativos

Ataxia locomotora

Síntomas:

Sensaciones anormales (parestesia), a menudo llamadas "dolores fulgurantes"
Dificultad para caminar
Pérdida de la coordinación
Pérdida de reflejos
Debilidad muscular
Base de sustentación amplia (la persona camina con las piernas muy separadas)

En la mielopatía sifilítica, también hay síntomas de daño al sistema nervioso, como:

Enfermedad psiquiátrica
Accidente cerebrovascular
Cambios en la visión

Signos y exámenes:

Un examen físico puede mostrar:

Daño a la médula espinal (mielopatía)
Pupilas que reaccionan de manera anormal a la luz
Reducción o ausencia de reflejos debido al daño neurológico

Los exámenes son, entre otros, los siguientes:

Examen de LCR (líquido cefalorraquídeo)
Tomografía computarizada de la cabeza y de la columna o resonancia magnética del cerebro y la médula espinal para descartar otras enfermedades
VDRL o RRP en suero (utilizados como prueba de detección para la infección por sífilis. Si es positiva, se requerirá uno de los siguientes exámenes para confirmar el diagnóstico):
- FTA-ABS
- MHA-TP
