MielopatÃa sifilÃtica

SÃntomas:
- Debilidad muscular
- Pérdida de la coordinación
- Dificultad para caminar
- Base de sustentación amplia (la persona camina con sus piernas muy separadas)
- Sensibilidad anormal, a menudo llamada "dolores fulgurantes"
- Pérdida de reflejos
Signos y exámenes:
Un examen fÃsico puede indicar la presencia de mielopatÃa. Los reflejos pueden estar disminuidos o ausentes debido al daño a los nervios.
Los exámenes son, entre otros:
- TC de la cabeza , TC de la columna o IRM del cerebro y la médula espinal para descartar otras enfermedades
- VDRL o RRP en suero o FTA para detectar la infección por sÃfilis

Examen de LCR (lÃquido cefalorraquÃdeo)
- resultados anormales que indican la presencia de meningitis crónica
- un examen positivo para neurosÃfilis ( exámenes de VDRL en LCR )
