Hidrocefalia normotensiva - Symptom

Síntomas:

Los síntomas a menudo comienzan de manera lenta.

Es necesario que una persona tenga tres síntomas para que le diagnostiquen hidrocefalia normotensiva.

  • Cambios en la forma como una persona camina, dificultad para empezar a caminar (apraxia en la marcha), pies que se mantienen más separados de lo normal, arrastre de los pies, inestabilidad
  • Reducción del funcionamiento intelectual: amnesia, dificultad para prestar atención, apatía o estado de ánimo indiferente
  • Problemas para controlar la orina (incontinencia urinaria) y algunas veces las heces (incontinencia intestinal)

Las caídas súbitas sin pérdida del conocimiento u otros síntomas (episodios de caídas) pueden ocurrir al comienzo de la enfermedad.

Nota: muchos de estos síntomas son comunes en los ancianos y pueden ser causados por otras afecciones.

Signos y exámenes:

Un examen muestra cambios en la marcha (forma de caminar) relacionados con la presión ejercida sobre partes del cerebro. Los reflejos tendinosos profundos pueden aumentar en la parte inferior de las piernas.
