Prevención:

El tratamiento de las afecciones que pueden causar el parkinsonismo secundario puede disminuir el riesgo de que éste se presente. El uso de medicamentos debe hacerse únicamente bajo la supervisión del médico y se debe vigilar a las personas con afecciones que requieran el uso prolongado de antipsicóticos, como la esquizofrenia, para evitar el desarrollo de parkinsonismo secundario irreversible. Los medicamentos antipsicóticos más nuevos tienen menos probabilidad de causar parkinsonismo secundario.
