Terror nocturno - Treatment

Tratamiento:

En muchos casos, un niño que experimenta terrores nocturnos sólo necesita consuelo.

Reducir el estrés o usar mecanismos de afrontamiento pueden reducir los terrores nocturnos. La psicoterapia o la asesoría pueden ser necesarias en algunos casos.

Las benzodiazepinas (como el diazepam), tomadas a la hora de dormir, a menudo reducirán los terrores nocturnos; sin embargo, rara vez se emplean para tratar este trastorno.

Pronóstico:

La mayoría de los niños superan los terrores nocturnos en poco tiempo. El número de episodios generalmente disminuye después de la edad de 10 años. Rara vez, los niños tendrán problemas para conciliar el sueño o permanecer dormidos.
