Definición:

Las pesadillas repetitivas son malos sueños que reaparecen frecuentemente e involucran el mismo tema.

Las pesadillas generalmente se inician antes de los 10 años y se consideran parte normal de la infancia, a menos que interfieran de forma significativa con el sueño y con el desarrollo físico o psicosocial. Las pesadillas tienden a ser más comunes en las niñas que en los niños y pueden continuar en la edad adulta.

Las pesadillas repetitivas también pueden ocurrir con el trastorno de estrés postraumático (TEPT).

Las pesadillas son diferentes de los terrores nocturnos.
