Las vacunas antialérgicas (inmunoterapia) se recomiendan de vez en cuando si la sustancia a la cual usted es alérgico no puede evitarse y si los síntomas son difíciles de controlar.

Pronóstico:

La mayoría de los síntomas de alergias al moho, la caspa y el polvo se pueden tratar fácilmente y dicho tratamiento regular puede minimizar los síntomas.

En algunos casos (particularmente en los niños), las personas pueden curarse de una alergia a medida que el sistema inmunitario se vuelve menos sensible al alergeno. Sin embargo, como regla general, una vez que una sustancia causa alergia a un individuo, puede continuar afectándolo durante largo tiempo.

Los casos más graves de rinitis alérgica a causa de estos alergenos pueden requerir vacunas antialérgicas.

Posibles complicaciones:

  • Anafilaxia (una reacción alérgica severa pero poco común)
  • Somnolencia y otros efectos secundarios por los antihistamínicos
  • Infecciones en el oído frecuentes (otitis media) en niños
  • Ronchas y otras erupciones cutáneas
  • Infecciones sinusales
