Piojos del cuerpo - Treatment

Tratamiento:

Los piojos del cuerpo habitan principalmente en la ropa. Destruya o lave cuidadosamente la ropa infectada en agua caliente (al menos 130º F o 55º C) y luego pásela por la secadora usando un ciclo caliente.

Además, el médico puede recetar una crema o champú que contenga permetrina, Malathione o alcohol bencílico.

Sin embargo, la higiene y el lavado de ropas de cama, prendas de vestir y toallas son más importantes y por lo regular suficientes.

Expectativas (pronóstico):

Los piojos se pueden eliminar por completo con un tratamiento adecuado.

Complicaciones:

Se puede presentar otra infección (secundaria) de la piel por el rascado. En ocasiones poco frecuentes, los piojos del cuerpo pueden ser portadores de enfermedades raras como la borreliosis o la fiebre quintana. Debido a que los piojos del cuerpo son contagiosos, otros miembros de la familia pueden necesitar tratamiento.
