Prevención:

Se debe evitar el contacto sexual o íntimo con la persona infectada. Para las personas que llevan una vida sexual activa, se recomiendan las prácticas de sexo seguro para evitar el contagio del piojo.

Se debe mantener una buena higiene personal y, en la medida de lo posible, evitar probarse trajes de baño al ir de compras. Sin embargo, si se debe hacer, se recomienda asegurarse de llevar puesta la ropa interior en el momento de probárselos, con el fin de prevenir la transmisión de la enfermedad.
