Quiste sebáceo

Definición:

Es un saco cerrado bajo la piel lleno con una material de apariencia caseosa o aceitosa.

Causas, incidencia y factores de riesgo:

Los quistes sebáceos con frecuencia se originan a partir de la inflamación de los folículos pilosos o también por un trauma cutáneo. En dichos quistes, se forma un saco de células dentro del cual se secreta una proteína llamada queratina.

Estos quistes por lo general se encuentran en la cara, el cuello y el tronco; usualmente, son protuberancias que se mueven libremente debajo de la piel, crecen lentamente y no causan dolor. Sin embargo, en ocasiones un quiste puede inflamarse y presentar sensibilidad.
