Infección de la piel por bacterias

Definición:

Es una infección común de la piel causada por bacterias.

Las bacterias estafilococo y estreptococo son las causas más comunes de celulitis.

La piel normal tiene muchos tipos de bacterias que viven en ella. Cuando hay una ruptura en la piel, estas bacterias pueden causar una infección cutánea. La piel en el área infectada se tornará roja, caliente, irritada y dolorosa.

Los factores de riesgo para la celulitis son, entre otros:

Rupturas o descamación de la piel entre los dedos.
Antecedentes de enfermedad vascular periférica.
Lesión o traumatismo con ruptura en la piel (heridas cutáneas).
Picaduras y mordeduras de insectos, mordeduras de animales o de personas.
Úlceras a causa de ciertas enfermedades, como diabetes y enfermedad vascular.
Uso de medicamentos corticosteroides o medicamentos que inhiben el sistema inmunitario.
Herida de una cirugía reciente.
