Celulitis - Symptom

Infección de la piel por bacterias

Síntomas:

Los síntomas de celulitis abarcan:

  • Fiebre
  • Dolor o sensibilidad en el área afectada
  • Inflamación o enrojecimiento de la piel que se hace más grande a medida que la infección se propaga
  • Lesión de piel o erupción (mácula) que aparece repentinamente y crece rápidamente en las primeras 24 horas
  • Apariencia de la piel tensa, brillante, "estirada"
  • Piel caliente en el área de enrojecimiento

Signos de infección:

  • Escalofrío, estremecimiento
  • Fatiga
  • Malestar general
  • Mialgias y dolores
  • Piel caliente
  • Sudoración

Otros síntomas que pueden ocurrir con esta enfermedad:

  • Pérdida de cabello en el sitio de la infección
  • Rigidez articular causada por inflamación del tejido sobre la articulación
  • Náuseas y vómitos

Pruebas y exámenes:

El médico llevará a cabo un examen físico, el cual puede revelar:

  • Enrojecimiento, calor e hinchazón de la piel.
  • Posible drenaje si hay una infección.
  • Glándulas inflamadas (ganglios linfáticos) cerca del área afectada.

El médico puede demarcar los bordes del enrojecimiento con un bolígrafo para ver si éste se extiende más allá del borde marcado en los días siguientes.

Los exámenes que se pueden hacer son:

  • Hemocultivo
  • Conteo sanguíneo completo (CSC)
  • Cultivo de cualquier líquido o material que esté dentro del área afectada
