Tratamiento:

Evite los desencadenantes que pueden empeorar los síntomas, como la lana, la lanolina y ciertos alimentos. Los expertos no aconsejan tomar baños frecuentes, dado que el exceso de baño y los jabones pueden causar resequedad de la piel, lo cual con frecuencia empeora la afección.

El médico puede recomendar el uso de lociones para la piel, jabones o compresas húmedas con el fin de aliviar las áreas secas, escamosas o que estén sanando. Los antihistamínicos tomados por vía oral pueden aliviar la picazón.

A las personas con síntomas graves se les pueden aplicar ungüentos recetados para la piel que contengan alquitrán, corticoesteroides o fármacos inmunodepresores. En casos graves y poco comunes, el médico puede prescribir corticosteroides más potentes para tomarlos por vía oral o por inyección.

Pronóstico:

El eccema numular es una enfermedad prolongada (crónica), cuyos síntomas se pueden reducir con tratamiento médico y evitando los irritantes.

Posibles complicaciones:

Se puede desarrollar una infección secundaria de la piel.
