Prevención:

Se pueden reducir los riesgos generales realizando exámenes frecuentes de la pelvis. Las pruebas de detección para el cáncer ovárico siguen siendo un área de investigación activa. Hasta la fecha, no existe una prueba de detección económica de este tipo de cáncer, de manera que más del 50% de las mujeres con cáncer ovárico son diagnosticadas en las etapas avanzadas de la enfermedad.

Las investigaciones recientes han mostrado que la cirugía para extirpar los ovarios en las mujeres con una mutación en los genes BRCA1 y BRCA2 puede reducir sustancialmente el riesgo de sufrir cáncer de ovario.
