Síndrome HELLP - Tratamiento

Tratamiento:

El tratamiento principal es inducir el parto lo más pronto posible, incluso si el bebé es prematuro, debido a que la función hepática en la madre se deteriora con mucha rapidez. Los problemas con el hígado pueden ser dañinos tanto para la madre como para el bebé.

Expectativas (pronóstico):

Cuando la enfermedad no se trata oportunamente, hasta el 25% de las mujeres afectadas sufren complicaciones serias. Sin tratamiento, un pequeño número de mujeres muere. La tasa de mortalidad entre bebés nacidos de madres con síndrome HELLP varía y depende de cosas como el peso al nacer. (Ver también prematurez)

Complicaciones:

La madre puede desarrollar una hemorragia hepática y, si el parto se retrasa, el hígado puede sufrir lesiones permanentes, lo cual puede ser mortal.

Situaciones que requieren asistencia médica:

Se debe acudir al obstetra de inmediato, llamar al número local de emergencias (como el 911 en los Estados Unidos) o acudir al servicio de emergencias si durante el embarazo se presentan los síntomas anteriores.
