Vaginitis atrófica
Definición:
Es una inflamación de la vagina debido a un adelgazamiento y encogimiento de los tejidos y una disminución en la lubricación.
Causas, incidencia y factores de riesgo:
La vaginitis atrófica se presenta generalmente por la disminución de los niveles de estrógeno, los cuales normalmente se reducen después de la menopausia . El trastorno puede afectar a mujeres jóvenes que han experimentado una cirugÃa para extirpar sus ovarios. Algunas mujeres desarrollan esta afección inmediatamente después del parto o durante la lactancia, ya que los niveles de estrógeno son más bajos en estos momentos.
