Prevención:

La menopausia es una parte esperada y natural del desarrollo de una mujer y no necesita prevenirse. Sin embargo, hay formas para reducir o eliminar algunos de los síntomas que la acompañan.

Usted puede reducir el riesgo de problemas a largo plazo, como osteoporosis y cardiopatía, tomando las siguientes medidas:

  • Controle la presión arterial, el colesterol y otros factores de riesgo de cardiopatía
  • NO fume, ya que el consumo de cigarrillo puede causar menopausia temprana
  • Consuma una alimentación baja en grasa
  • Haga ejercicio regularmente. Los ejercicios de resistencia ayudan a fortalecer los huesos y mejorar el equilibrio
  • Si muestra signos iniciales de pérdida ósea o tiene un fuerte antecedente familiar de osteoporosis, hable con el médico acerca de los medicamentos que pueden ayudar a detener un debilitamiento mayor
