Prevención:

El uso de condón durante la relación sexual puede evitar la mayoría de las infecciones vaginales transmitidas sexualmente. El uso de ropa holgada y adecuadamente absorbente, combinado con una buena higiene de la zona genital también previene muchos casos de vulvovaginitis no infecciosa.

Es importante enseñar a los niños la forma adecuada de limpiar la zona genital al bañarse o ducharse. También es de ayuda limpiarse correctamente con el papel higiénico (las niñas deben limpiarse siempre de adelante hacia atrás para evitar introducir bacterias de la zona del recto a la de la vagina).

Las manos se deben lavar muy bien antes y después de ir al baño.
