Vulvovaginitis - Symptom

Síntomas:

Irritación y picazón en el área genital
Inflamación (irritación, enrojecimiento e hinchazón) de los labios mayores, labios menores o zona perineal
Flujo vaginal
Mal olor vaginal
Molestia o ardor al orinar

Signos y exámenes:

Si a usted le han diagnosticado una candidiasis vaginal en el pasado, puede ensayar un tratamiento con productos de venta libre. Sin embargo, si sus síntomas no desaparecen por completo en alrededor de una semana, consulte con el médico, ya que muchas otras infecciones tienen síntomas similares.

El médico llevará a cabo un examen pélvico, el cual puede mostrar áreas rojas y sensibles en la vulva o la vagina.

Por lo general, se realiza una preparación en fresco (evaluación microscópica del flujo vaginal) para identificar una infección vaginal o la proliferación de hongos levaduriformes o bacterias. En algunos casos, en un cultivo de la secreción vaginal se puede identificar el microorganismo causante de la infección.

Se puede recomendar una biopsia del área irritada en la vulva si no hay ningún signo de infección.
