Preeclampsia
Nombres alternativos:
Hipertensión inducida por el embarazo; toxemia
SÃntomas:
- Edema (hinchazón de manos y cara al levantarse)

Aumento de peso
- Más de 1 kg (2 libras) por semana
- Súbito en un perÃodo de 1 a 2 dÃas
- Dolores de cabeza
Nota: es normal que se presente algo de hinchazón en los pies y los tobillos durante el embarazo.
SÃntomas adicionales que pueden estar asociados con la enfermedad son:
- Disminución del gasto urinario
- Náuseas y vómitos
- Inflamación facial
- Presión sanguÃnea alta
- Agitación
- Cambios en la visión (luces chispeantes en los ojos)
- Dolor abdominal
Signos y exámenes:
- Aumento de peso documentado
- Hinchazón en la parte superior del cuerpo
- Presión sanguÃnea alta
- Proteinuria (presencia de proteÃna en la orina)
- Trombocitopenia (conteo de plaquetas inferior a 100.000)
- Pruebas de función hepática elevadas
Esta enfermedad también puede alterar los resultados de algunas pruebas de laboratorio.
