Prevención:

Las relaciones sexuales con protección pueden disminuir el riesgo de cáncer de la vulva, lo cual incluye el uso de condones para protegerse contra las enfermedades de transmisión sexual.

Hay disponibilidad de una vacuna para protegerse contra ciertas formas de la infección por el virus del papiloma humano (VPH). Esta vacuna está aprobada para prevenir el cáncer y precánceres del cuello uterino y puede ayudar a prevenir otros cánceres ligados al VPH, como el cáncer de la vulva. La vacuna se le aplica a las niñas jóvenes antes de que inicien su vida sexual activa, al igual que a las adolescentes y a mujeres hasta la edad de 26 años.

Los exámenes pélvicos de rutina pueden ayudar a diagnosticar el cáncer de la vulva y otros tipos de cáncer en etapa temprana. El diagnóstico precoz mejora las probabilidades de un tratamiento eficaz.
