Tratamiento:

Se puede usar crema de imiquimod al 5% para tratar la neoplasia intraepitelial vulvar.

El tratamiento implica cirugía para eliminar las células cancerosas. Si el tumor es grande (más de 2 cm) o se ha profundizado dentro de la piel, también se pueden extirpar los ganglios linfáticos en el área inguinal.

La radiación, con o sin quimioterapia, se puede utilizar para tratar tumores avanzados o cáncer de la vulva que reaparece.

Grupos de apoyo:

Usted puede aliviar el estrés causado por una enfermedad uniéndose a un grupo de apoyo cuyos miembros comparten experiencias y problemas en común. Ver grupos de apoyo para el cáncer.

Expectativas (pronóstico):

La mayoría de las mujeres con cáncer de la vulva que recibieron un diagnóstico y tratamiento en las etapas iniciales tienen un buen pronóstico. Sin embargo, el desenlace clínico de una mujer depende de:

El tamaño del tumor
El tipo de cáncer vulvar
Si el cáncer se ha diseminado o no

El cáncer comúnmente reaparece en o cerca del sitio del tumor original.

Las complicaciones pueden abarcar:

Diseminación del cáncer a otras áreas del cuerpo
Efectos secundarios de la radiación, la cirugía o la quimioterapia
