Todas las mujeres deben hacerse exámenes pélvicos con regularidad, desde el inicio de su actividad sexual (o a la edad de 21 años, si no son sexualmente activas), para ayudar a detectar los signos de infección de desarrollo anormal. Las mujeres deben hacerse citologías vaginales comenzando tres años después de haberse convertido en sexualmente activas.
A las mujeres con cualquiera de los factores de riesgo para el cáncer endometrial se les deben hacer controles más estrictos por parte de sus médicos. Se deben realizar exámenes pélvicos y pruebas de detección frecuentes, como una citología vaginal y una biopsia endometrial.
Las mujeres que están tomando una estrogenoterapia restitutiva deben hacerse exámenes pélvicos y citologías vaginales regulares.
