Agorafobia

Definición:

Es un miedo a los lugares en donde podría ser posible no encontrar ayuda, particularmente miedo a las multitudes, puentes o a estar solo en espacios abiertos.

Causas, incidencia y factores de riesgo:

La agorafobia es un trastorno que muy a menudo está presente junto con otros trastornos de ansiedad, como el de pánico o fobias específicas.

Si la agarofobia se presenta acompañada de trastornos de pánico, el comienzo se da usualmente a los 20 años de edad y afecta más a las mujeres que a los hombres. Las personas que presentan este trastorno se pueden confinar en sus hogares por años, con el consecuente deterioro de la interrelación personal y social.
