Trastorno de adaptación - Treatment

Tratamiento:

El objetivo principal del tratamiento es aliviar los síntomas y ayudar a la persona a retornar a un nivel similar de desempeño como antes de que ocurriera el hecho estresante.

La terapia individual puede ayudar a la persona a:

  • Obtener apoyo
  • Identificar sus respuestas anormales al factor estresante
  • Maximizar el uso de sus fortalezas

La mayoría de los profesionales en salud mental recomiendan algún tipo de psicoterapia para ayudarle a la persona a identificar o aprender diferentes respuestas a los factores estresantes en su vida. Los tipos de terapia pueden abarcar:

  • Terapia conductual
  • Psicoterapia individual
  • Terapia de familia
  • Grupos de autoayuda

Cuando se utilizan medicamentos, por lo general son complementarios de otras formas de tratamiento. Dependiendo de los síntomas, pueden abarcar:

  • Ansiolíticos
  • Antidepresivos
  • Antipsicóticos (rara vez)
  • Estimulantes (para pacientes que están muy retraídos)

Expectativas (pronóstico):

Los trastornos de adaptación en general mejoran rápidamente sin síntomas remanentes.
