Intoxicación con barbitúricos

Síntomas:

Los síntomas de la intoxicación aguda con barbitúricos comprenden:

  • Alteración del nivel de conciencia
  • Dificultad para pensar
  • Somnolencia o coma
  • Deterioro de la capacidad de discernimiento
  • Descoordinación
  • Respiración superficial
  • Lentitud en el discurso oral
  • Pereza
  • Mala articulación del lenguaje
  • Marcha titubeante

Signos y exámenes:

El examen físico y la historia clínica son generalmente suficientes para hacer el diagnóstico. Las pruebas toxicológicas, tanto en orina como en suero, pueden detectar los barbitúricos hasta 5 días después de tomarlos. Los exámenes de sangre adicionales pueden mostrar la gravedad de la dificultad respiratoria.

Los hallazgos más comunes en un examen físico que se observan en una sobredosis de barbitúricos son:

  • Temperatura corporal baja (hipotermia)
  • Presión arterial baja (hipotensión)
  • Disminución de la frecuencia respiratoria (depresión respiratoria)
