Dermatitis del pañal - Overview

Definición:

Es un problema cutáneo que se desarrolla en el área por debajo del pañal de un bebé.

Causas:

La dermatitis del pañal es común en bebés entre 4 y 15 meses de edad y es posible que se note más cuando los bebés empiezan a comer alimentos sólidos.

La dermatitis del pañal causada por infección con una levadura u hongo llamado cándida es muy común en los niños. La cándida se encuentra por todas partes en el medio ambiente y crece mejor en lugares calientes y húmedos, como debajo de un pañal. Una dermatitis del pañal relacionada con hongos es más probable que se presente en bebés que:

  • No se mantengan limpios y secos
  • Estén tomando antibióticos, o cuyas madres estén tomando antibióticos mientras amamantan
  • Tenga deposiciones más frecuentes

Otras causas de la dermatitis del pañal abarcan:

  • Los ácidos en las heces (se observa con más frecuencia cuando el niño tiene diarrea)
  • Amoníaco (producido cuando las bacterias descomponen la orina)
  • Pañales que están demasiado apretados o froten la piel
  • Reacciones a jabones y otros productos utilizados para limpiar las telas de los pañales
  • Demasiada humedad
