Erupción
que:
- aparece inicialmente en las mejillas y con frecuencia da la apariencia de una "cachetada en las mejillas".
- se disemina a los brazos y las piernas más o menos 1 dÃa después y a menudo tiene una apariencia de "encaje".
- Fiebre
- Dolor articular
- Anemia temporal: ésta únicamente es grave si el paciente tiene un problema en su sistema inmunitario o alguna otra forma de anemia existente.
Signos y exámenes:
El eritema infeccioso ocasiona una erupción inconfundible, cuya apariencia y patrón serán examinadas por el médico. Generalmente, eso es todo lo que se necesita para hacer un diagnóstico.
Los exámenes de sangre que buscan anticuerpos contra el parvovirus B19 pueden indicar infección. Sin embargo, estos exámenes generalmente no se necesitan, aunque pueden ser de utilidad en el diagnóstico de crisis aplásica y anemia persistente.
Los exámenes también se pueden hacer cuando existe alguna duda acerca de si una mujer embarazada ha estado o no expuesta al virus.
