Tratamiento:

Se requiere cirug铆a de emergencia para reparar el v贸lvulo. Se hace una incisi贸n quir煤rgica en el abdomen, se destuerce el intestino y se restablece el flujo sangu铆neo.

Si un peque帽o segmento del intestino est谩 muerto (necrosis) a causa de la falta de flujo sangu铆neo, 茅ste se extrae. Los extremos del intestino se cosen o se emplean para formar una conexi贸n de los intestinos hacia el exterior, a trav茅s de la cual se pueden eliminar los contenidos intestinales (colostom铆a o ileostom铆a).

Expectativas (pron贸stico):

El diagn贸stico y tratamiento r谩pido del v贸lvulo generalmente llevan a un buen pron贸stico.

Si se presenta muerte (necrosis) del intestino, el pron贸stico es desalentador. La situaci贸n puede ser potencialmente mortal, dependiendo de la cantidad de intestino comprometido.
