Retinopatía hipertensiva

Tratamiento:

El único tratamiento para esta enfermedad es el control de la presión sanguínea alta ( hipertensión ).

Expectativas (pronóstico):

Los pacientes que tienen el grado IV (retinopatía hipertensiva severa) con frecuencia padecen también complicaciones cardíacas y renales de presión sanguínea alta. En general, la retina se recuperará satisfactoriamente si se controla la presión sanguínea, pero algunos pacientes con retinopatía hipertensiva grado IV tendrán daños permanentes del nervio óptico o de la mácula.

Se debe acudir o llamar al servicio de emergencias (911 en los Estados Unidos) si se presentan presión sanguínea alta y cambios en la visión o dolores de cabeza.
