Síntomas:

Los síntomas varían de una persona a otra, pero pueden abarcar:

Dificultad para ver los colores y su brillo en la forma usual.
Incapacidad para establecer la diferencia entre sombras del mismo color o de colores similares.

A menudo, los síntomas pueden ser tan leves que algunas personas no saben que padecen daltonismo. Un padre puede notar signos de daltonismo cuando su hijo está aprendiendo los nombres de los colores.

En casos graves, se pueden presentar movimientos rápidos de los ojos de un lado a otro (nistagmo) y otros síntomas.

Pruebas y exámenes:

El médico o el oftalmólogo pueden examinar la visión cromática de varias formas. Las pruebas para el daltonismo comúnmente se llevan a cabo durante un examen ocular.
