Definición:
Es el deterioro de la estructura de la córnea con un abultamiento gradual de la forma redonda normal a una forma de cono. Esta condición causa disminución en la agudeza visual y se descubre frecuentemente durante la adolescencia.
Causas, incidencia y factores de riesgo:
La causa se desconoce y es una condición más común en personas que sufren miopÃa o usan lentes de contacto. Algunos investigadores creen que la alergia puede jugar un papel en el desarrollo de esta condición.
