Astigmatismo

Definición:

Es una afección en la cual la córnea, la cubierta transparente en la parte frontal del ojo, tiene una curva anormal, ocasionando una visión desenfocada.

Causas, incidencia y factores de riesgo:

El astigmatismo es una condición muy común y su causa es desconocida. Generalmente se presenta desde el nacimiento, puede ocurrir al mismo tiempo que la miopía o la hipermetropía . Un grado menor de astigmatismo se considera normal y no requiere corrección.
