La hipermetropía se puede corregir fácilmente con el uso gafas o de lentes de contacto y existen técnicas quirúrgicas para corregirla en aquellas personas que no deseen usar estos elementos.

Expectativas (pronóstico):

Se espera que los resultados sean buenos.

Complicaciones:

La hipermetropía puede ser un factor de riesgo para el desarrollo de glaucoma. y ambliopía.

Situaciones que requieren asistencia médica:

Se debe buscar asistencia médica u oftalmológica si se presentan síntomas de hipermetropía y no se ha hecho un examen ocular recientemente o si la visión comienza a empeorar después de una hipermetropía diagnosticada.
