Si el quiste o el tumor no es doloroso y no interfiere con la audición, no se necesita de tratamiento.
Si un quiste se vuelve doloroso, es posible que esté infectado. El tratamiento puede incluir antibióticos o extirpación del mismo.
Los tumores óseos benignos pueden aumentar progresivamente de tamaño. Si un tumor benigno es doloroso, interfiere con la audición o lleva a infecciones auditivas frecuentes, puede requerir extirpación quirúrgica.
Los quistes y tumores benignos del oído son, por lo general, de crecimiento lento y pueden desaparecer espontáneamente.
