El médico examinará el oÃdo con un otoscopio y si éste presenta una perforación, se verá la abertura en el mismo e incluso se pueden observar los huesos del oÃdo medio. En ocasiones, es difÃcil para el médico visualizar el tÃmpano debido a la secreción del oÃdo (pus).
Un examen de audiologÃa puede medir el grado de pérdida auditiva.
