Amigdalitis

Definición:

Es la inflamación (hinchazón) de las amígdalas.

Las amígdalas son ganglios linfáticos que se encuentran en la parte posterior de la boca y en la parte de arriba de la garganta. Normalmente ayudan a eliminar las bacterias y otros microorganismos para prevenir infecciones en el cuerpo.

Las amígdalas pueden llegar a estar tan inundadas por infecciones bacterianas o virales que se hinchan e inflaman, causando amigdalitis. La infección también puede estar presente en la garganta y áreas circundantes, causando faringitis .

La amigdalitis es extremadamente común, sobre todo en los niños.
