Boca de trinchera

Es una infección bacteriana dolorosa con ulceración de las encÃas.

Causas, incidencia y factores de riesgo:
La boca de trinchera es una manifestación dolorosa de la gingivitis (inflamación de las encÃas). El término "boca de trinchera" proviene de la Primera Guerra Mundial, cuando el trastorno era común entre los soldados.
La boca normalmente presenta un equilibrio entre diferentes microorganismos. La boca de trinchera se produce cuando hay sobreabundancia de una bacteria normal de la boca que provoca una infección e inflamación en las encÃas y produce úlceras dolorosas. Los virus pueden colaborar en esta proliferación de bacterias.
Los riesgos son, entre otros, los siguientes:
- Deficiente higiene oral
- Mala nutrición
- Infecciones en garganta, dientes o boca
- Hábito de fumar
- Estrés emocional
El trastorno es poco común, pero cuando se presenta tiende a afectar con mayor frecuencia a los adultos menores de 35 años de edad.
