Gingivoestomatitis

Definición:

Es una infección viral de la boca y las encías que causa hinchazón y úlceras.

Causas, incidencia y factores de riesgo:

La gingivoestomatitis es común, particularmente entre los niños y puede ocurrir después de una infección con el virus del herpes simple tipo 1 (HSV-1), que también causa las boqueras (fuegos) o herpes labial. Ver estomatitis herpética .

La afección también puede ocurrir después de una infección con el virus de Coxsackie. Ver herpangina .
