Laberintitis
Definición:
Es un trastorno auditivo que implica irritación e hinchazón del oÃdo interno.

Causas, incidencia y factores de riesgo:
La causa de la laberintitis es desconocida; sin embargo, se presenta con frecuencia después de una otitis media (infección en el oÃdo) o infección de las vÃas respiratorias altas , por lo que se cree que está relacionada con una infección viral o bacteriana. También puede aparecer luego de una alergia , colesteatoma o después de tomar ciertas drogas que son peligrosas para el oÃdo interno.
Durante una laberintitis, las partes del oÃdo interno se irritan y se inflaman. Esto interfiere con su función, que incluye la capacidad para mantener el equilibrio.
Los siguientes factores aumentan el riesgo de padecer laberintitis:
- Enfermedad viral reciente, infección respiratoria o infección del oÃdo
- El uso de ciertos medicamentos prescritos o no (especialmente la aspirina)
- Estrés
- Fatiga
- Antecedentes de alergia
- Fumar
- Consumir grandes cantidades de alcohol
