Periodontitis - Symptom

Enfermedad periodontal - piorrea; Inflamación de las encías con compromiso del hueso

Síntomas:

  • Mal aliento
  • Encías que presentan un color rojo brillante o rojo purpúreo
  • Encías que tienen aspecto brillante
  • Encías que sangran con facilidad (presencia de sangre en el cepillo de dientes, incluso si el cepillado se hace con suavidad)
  • Encías que pueden ser sensibles al tacto, pero por lo demás no duelen
  • Dientes flojos
  • Encías inflamadas

Nota: los síntomas iniciales se parecen a la gingivitis.

Signos y exámenes:

La evaluación de la boca y los dientes por parte del odontólogo muestra encías blandas, inflamadas y de color rojo púrpura. Los depósitos de placa y cálculos pueden ser visibles en la base de los dientes, con bolsas agrandadas en las encías. Las encías por lo general no duelen o se sienten levemente sensibles, a menos que también se presente un absceso dental. Los dientes pueden estar flojos y las encías retraídas.

Las radiografías dentales revelan la pérdida del hueso de soporte y también pueden mostrar la presencia de depósitos de placa bajo las encías.
