Dislocación rotuliana; Dislocación o inestabilidad de la rótula

Definición:

Ocurre cuando el hueso de forma triangular que cubre la rodilla se desplaza o se sale de lugar. El problema usualmente se presenta hacia la parte externa de la pierna.

Causas:

La dislocación de la rótula se observa con mucha frecuencia en mujeres. Generalmente ocurre como resultado de un cambio súbito de dirección de la pierna al correr, lo cual pone a la rodilla bajo tensión.

La dislocación también puede ocurrir como resultado directo de una lesión. Cuando se disloca, la rótula se puede deslizar hacia los lados y alrededor hacia afuera de la rodilla.
