Lesión de menisco en la rodilla; Ruptura del cartílago en la rodilla; Ruptura de meniscos
Se refiere a un desgarro o rotura del cartílago amortiguador (menisco) de la rodilla.
El menisco es un pedazo de cartílago fibroso en forma de C localizado en la rodilla. El cartílago se encuentra en ciertas articulaciones y conforma un amortiguador entre los huesos para proteger la articulación. El menisco sirve como sistema de amortiguación, ayuda en la lubricación de la articulación y limita la capacidad de ésta para flexionarse y extenderse.
Las rupturas de meniscos son causadas generalmente por torcedura o flexión exagerada de la articulación de la rodilla.
