Síntomas:

Los síntomas generalmente incluyen dolor en el talón afectado al caminar o al correr. El tendón usualmente duele al tacto y la piel que lo cubre puede presentarse hinchada y caliente.

La tendinitis aquílea puede predisponer al paciente a la ruptura del tendón de Aquiles. Esta afección generalmente causa un dolor agudo, como si alguien golpeara en la parte trasera del talón con un palo o garrote.

Signos y exámenes:

En el examen físico, el médico trata de detectar sensibilidad a lo largo del tendón o dolor en el área del tendón, cuando el paciente se para en los dedos de los pies.

Los estudios imagenológicos también pueden servir. Las radiografías pueden ayudar a diagnosticar artritis y una IRM muestra la inflamación del tendón.
