SÃntomas:
Casi la mitad de los tumores mediastinales son asintomáticos y se detectan en las radiografÃas que se realizan por otras razones. Cuando se presentan sÃntomas, estos se relacionan con la compresión de las estructuras locales y pueden incluir:
- Tos
- Dificultad respiratoria
- Dolor torácico
- Fiebre
- EscalofrÃos
- Sudoraciones nocturnas
- Tos con sangre (hemoptsis)
- Ronquera
Signos y exámenes:
Los tumores mediastinales se sospechan por primera vez durante la historia médica y durante el examen fÃsico, el cual puede revelar:
- Fiebre
- Pérdida de peso
- LinfadenopatÃa (inflamación o sensibilidad de los ganglios linfáticos)
- Sibilancia
- Estridor
Una evaluación diagnóstica posterior generalmente incluye:
- RadiografÃas de tórax
- TC de tórax
- IRM del tórax
- Biopsia con aguja guiada por TC
- Mediastinoscopia con biopsia
