Atresia pulmonar - Treatment

Atresia pulmonar con tabique íntegro; APTI

Tratamiento:

Generalmente, se emplea un medicamento llamado prostaglandina E1 para ayudar a que la sangre se movilice (circule) hacia los pulmones. Este medicamento mantiene un vaso sanguíneo abierto, llamado conducto arterial persistente (CAP), entre la arteria pulmonar y la aorta.

Otros tratamientos abarcan:

  • Cateterismo cardíaco para reparar el problema
  • Cirugía a corazón abierto para reparar o reemplazar la válvula o para colocar un tubo entre el ventrículo derecho y las arterias pulmonares (pulmón)
  • Reconstruir el corazón como un sólo ventrículo (para algunos pacientes)
  • Trasplante de corazón

Expectativas (pronóstico):

La cirugía puede ayudar en la mayoría de los casos. Sin embargo, el pronóstico del bebé depende de:

  • La calidad de los vasos sanguíneos que irriguen el corazón
  • Qué tan bien esté latiendo el corazón
  • La cantidad de filtración de las otras válvulas cardíacas

Los pronósticos pueden variar debido a las diferentes formas de esta anomalía. Al bebé le podrían realizar únicamente un procedimiento con un solo catéter o podría necesitar tres o más cirugías y tener un solo ventrículo funcional. El pronóstico es difícil de predecir sin conocer todos los detalles acerca del estado del paciente.

Complicaciones:

  • Retraso del crecimiento y desarrollo
  • Convulsiones
  • Accidente cerebrovascular
  • Endocarditis infecciosa
  • Insuficiencia cardíaca
  • Muerte

  • Problemas respiratorios
  • Uñas o piel con apariencia azulada (cianosis)
