Tromboflebitis

Definición:

Es la inflamación de una vena causada por un coágulo sanguíneo .

El hecho de permanecer sentado por un período prolongado, como en un viaje largo en avión, incrementa el riesgo de una persona a padecer tromboflebitis.

Los trastornos que incrementan las posibilidades de una persona a presentar coágulos sanguíneos también pueden llevar a tromboflebitis. Los dos tipos de esta enfermedad son  tromboflebitis superficial (afecta venas cercanas a la superficie de la piel) y trombosis venosa profunda (afecta venas más profundas y más grandes).
