Tronco arterial - Treatment

Tratamiento:

Se necesita cirugía para tratar esta afección. Hay dos procedimientos disponibles.

Uno es el cerclaje de las arterias pulmonares que nacen en el tronco para limitar la cantidad de sangre que puede fluir a través de ellas; sin embargo, este procedimiento ya no se utiliza mucho.

El otro procedimiento se denomina reparación completa y parece ser la opción preferida.

Expectativas (pronóstico):

La reparación completa generalmente produce buenos resultados y es posible que sea necesario otro procedimiento a medida que el paciente crece. Los casos que no reciben tratamiento terminan en muerte, a menudo durante el primer año de vida.

Complicaciones:

  • Insuficiencia cardíaca
  • Presión arterial alta en los pulmones (hipertensión pulmonar) con enfermedad pulmonar obstructiva

Situaciones que requieren asistencia médica:

Llame al médico si su bebé o su hijo:

  • Parece letárgico
  • Parece excesivamente cansado o tiene una leve dificultad para respirar
  • No come bien
  • No parece estar creciendo o desarrollándose de manera normal

Si la piel, los labios o los lechos ungueales del niño se tornan azules o si el niño parece tener mucha dificultad para respirar, llévelo a la sala de urgencias o hágalo examinar con prontitud.
