SÃntomas:
El bebé puede lucir gravemente enfermo y mostrar los siguientes sÃntomas:
- Letargo
- Alimentación deficiente
- Respiración rápida
- Crecimiento deficiente
- Infecciones respiratorias frecuentes
- Cianosis (coloración azulada de la piel)
Nota: en algunos casos es posible que no se presenten sÃntomas durante la lactancia o la primera infancia.
Signos y exámenes:
- Un ECG muestra signos de agrandamiento de los ventrÃculos (hipertrofia ventricular)
- Una radiografÃa del tórax muestran un corazón que varÃa de normal a pequeño con lÃquido en los pulmones
- Una ecocardiografÃa suele definir la unión de los vasos pulmonares
- El cateterismo cardÃaco puede dar el diagnóstico definitivo al mostrar la unión anormal de los vasos sanguÃneos
