Reflujo gastroesofágico en los bebés

Tratamiento:

Si el bebé tiene problemas de reflujo, se recomienda mantenerlo erguido durante 1 ó 2 horas después de alimentarlo, para lo cual se puede utilizar un tablero de reflujo . Cuando el niño empieza a ingerir alimentos sólidos, es preferible darle alimentos gruesos a alimentos delgados. Algunas veces, se utilizan medicamentos para ayudar a reducir los síntomas, incluyendo antiácidos o el Reglan (un medicamento recetado que mejora el peristaltismo).

Expectativas (pronóstico):

Aunque la mayoría de los bebés superan esta enfermedad con el crecimiento, en casos excepcionales, el reflujo puede persistir durante la infancia y causar diferentes grados de daño esofágico.

Complicaciones:

Irritación e inflamación (hinchazón) esofágica
Estenosis esofágica (cicatrización y estrechez)
Neumonía causada por la aspiración del contenido gástrico hacia los pulmones

Situaciones que requieren asistencia médica:

Se debe buscar asistencia médica si el bebé está vomitando con frecuencia, especialmente, si hay esfuerzo excesivo en el momento de vomitar o si se presentan otros síntomas de reflujo.
